Mimi
In January of 2022 Mimi was living in her car with her chihuahua, Joe. After weeks of Joe beginning to act weird around her and continuously sniffing her, she decided to go to the doctor to see if something was wrong with her. The doctor told her that she had cancer, and would need to undergo chemotherapy and radiation immediately.
Mimi went through treatment while living in her car, and relied on the HRC for food, showers and laundry, and a place to use the bathroom.
In October of 2022, Mimi found out that she was cancer free! She beat the odds while living in her car. Mimi then began working with OC Health on site to receive permanent housing. She fought like crazy to get everything she could in order so she could receive an apartment to call her own. Her hard work paid off because she was accepted into a permanent housing program and is awaiting a move in date.
We will miss Mimi, as she is a pillar of strength on our site and a mother to many, but we are extremely excited for the next step in her journey!
